1. butter someone up 奉承某人
有時候被朋友誇獎反倒覺得很不好意思，這時候你可以很幽默的說:
Na~~You are just buttering me up!

2. butterfinger 奶油手指= 粗心大意的人
Jam has butterfingers. 詹姆笨手笨腳的。本句話也可以拿來形容板球常失球的人。

3. a tough cookie 一塊剛強的甜餅乾 = 硬漢子
有時候想要安慰別人，你可以故意誇對方是個硬漢子。
Kenny is really a tough cookie.

4. be sandwiched in between 被三明治在中間 = 被夾在中間
He’s sandwiched in between two beauties. 他被夾在兩個美女中間。

5. as warm as a toast 溫暖得像一片吐司一樣= 暖烘烘的
The smile is as warm as a toast. 那笑容真是溫暖。

6. full of juice 充滿果汁= 充滿活力
The man in love is full of juice every day.

7. soup up 湯起來 = 增強…的馬力
The engineer tried hard to soup up the engine. 這位工程師努力增強引擎的馬力。

8. in the soup 在湯裡= 陷入困境
If Dad finds out that you’ve done, you’re ready to be in the soup.
如果爸爸發現你做了什麼，你就要倒大楣了。

9. duck soup 鴨湯 = 輕而易舉的事情
Fixing this car is going to be duck soup. 修理這台車將是件輕而易舉的事情。

10. one’s cup of tea 某人的茶= 和某人胃口
This kind of sport is not my cup of tea.
這種運動不是我所喜愛的。

11. a different cup of tea 不一樣的茶 = 迴然不同的人
He is different cup of tea in the group.
